Our Mission

The mission of Family Counseling and Shelter Services is to empower individuals and families in Monroe County and surrounding communities by providing essential mental health, domestic violence, and sexual assault services. We believe in fostering resilience, creating positive change, and promoting well-being for all.

Our History

Founded in 1966, Family Counseling and Shelter Services emerged from a recognition of the lack of accessible and affordable counseling services in the community. From humble beginnings, we have grown into a trusted resource, serving hundreds of individuals and families every year.

1. Counseling Programs

Our skilled counselors offer confidential and compassionate support to individuals, couples, and families facing a variety of challenges, such as:

• Parenting support

2. Sunrise House

This safe and supportive shelter provides a temporary home for survivors of domestic violence, offering:

• Emergency shelter and basic necessities
• Counseling and support groups
• Empowerment and advocacy services
• Life skills training and job placement assistance

3. Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Services

We offer a range of services to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, including:

• Crisis intervention and safety planning
• Advocacy and legal referrals
• Support groups and counseling
