Fostering healthy families, one relationship at a time.
As a licensed therapist, I, David Henning, have spent the last 30 years helping individuals and couples navigate the complexities of their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. With offices in San Francisco, I specialize in providing a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your concerns, challenges, and goals.
Boundaries and Relationships
Boundaries are crucial to the overall health of a relationship. In an intimate relationship, it is often challenging to negotiate independence and closeness. These two aspects of relatedness can seem mutually exclusive. But boundaries are the guardrails for respect and love. Without them, there is insecurity and anxiety. I help couples clarify their individual boundaries, desires, and improve communication. I also help them to appreciate and respect the differences between them.
Anxiety
Anxiety is ubiquitous. It touches all areas of an individual's life. Most of us experience it to a mild or tolerable degree. However, when anxiety becomes too intense, it may threaten our functioning and quality of life. Sometimes, it is difficult to recognize. It may take the form of repetitive behaviors, obsessive thoughts, or difficulty concentrating. I have assisted individuals in recognizing and reducing the impact of anxiety in their lives.
Therapy Services
As a therapist, my approach is active and exploratory. I tend to shy away from being directive and instead focus on helping you discover your own insights and solutions. My sessions are designed to be educational and self-reflective. We explore experiences, thoughts, and emotions together, and I provide a supportive and non-judgmental space to do so.

My specialties include:
- Anxiety and trauma
- Addiction and recovery
- Couples counseling and relationships
