Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc. (ACT) is a private, not-for-profit agency dedicated to serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. History of ACT
For over 44 years, ACT has been providing comprehensive services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties. Founded on the principles of compassion, empathy, and understanding, ACT has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community, adapting our services to address the most pressing issues affecting victims of violence and trauma. Through our commitment to excellence, reliability, and dedication, ACT has become a trusted facilitator of hope, healing, and empowerment for those affected by violence and trauma.
Services
ACT offers a wide range of services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, including:
- 24-hour helpline and crisis counseling
- Safe shelters and emergency housing
- Counseling and therapy for individuals, groups, and families
- Economic empowerment services, including financial and health literacy
- Job skills evaluation and training, as well as GED assistance and ESOL classes
- Community education and awareness programs
- Prevention education and violence prevention initiatives
- Advocacy services, including legal representation and sexual assault forensic examinations
