The Washington School Counselor Association

The Washington Counseling Association (WCA) is a state branch of the American Counseling Association (ACA) that aims to foster professional development and learning across the mental health disciplines. Our mission is to promote the counseling profession and the public's confidence and trust in counseling professionals. We believe that staying connected to our community of counselors is essential for being informed and united within the profession.

Our Mission and Purpose

Our mission is to promote intercommunication between and among counseling groups and organizations in Washington state. We also aim to represent the state in national forums and meetings, and to be a communication link with national and other state counseling organizations. Our purpose is to promote the counseling profession and to promote public confidence and trust in the counseling profession.

Our Goals

Our goals are to further counseling by promoting and providing educational programs for counselors, updating counselors on new information and developments in the field, creating a network of support among peers, and serving as a link among members, the national counseling association, its divisions, and other human service organizations. We also aim to promote governmental relations and legislation to benefit counselors and consumers of counseling, as well as to encourage research, credentialing, ethics, and related standards in counseling.
