Your bridge to better mental health

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over three decades of experience helping adolescents and adults navigate an array of mental health challenges. My Bellevue, Washington practice is a welcoming space for individuals seeking resolution to personal crises, coaching through life changes, or skill-building for new challenges. I am a member of both the Washington State Psychological Association (WSPA) and American Psychological Association (APA) and hold licensure in both California (34554) and Washington (1557). My expertise and warm, supportive therapeutic approach empower clients to achieve positive growth and change.

Creating a Strong Therapeutic Partnership

At the heart of my practice is a commitment to forming strong, collaborative relationships with clients. I listen carefully to your concerns and goals for therapy, promoting open communication, trust, and understanding. Using evidence-based treatments, primarily Cognitive-Behavioral therapies, I work closely with you to design tailored treatment plans aimed at preventing distress, promoting emotional well-being, and facilitating personal development. I also collaborate with family doctors and psychiatrists in the area to ensure continuity of care.

Addressing a Wide Range of Mental Health Concerns

I specialize in treating adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), relationship issues, and difficulty adjusting to stressful events.

*Depression: Depression goes beyond sadness, manifesting as a lack of interest and pleasure in daily activities, significant weight loss or gain, insomnia or excessive sleeping, lack of energy, inability to concentrate, feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt, and recurrent thoughts of death or suicide. Fortunately, effective treatments, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy and other evidence-based therapies, are highly effective in treating clinical depression.*

*Anxiety: Anxiety is a universal experience; everyone worries from time to time. Stressful situations such as family conflict, driving in traffic, and meeting work deadlines can often cause us to feel anxious or nervous. However, many individuals experience more than mild or occasional anxiety and feel overwhelmed. Symptoms often include extreme fear, shortness of breath, racing heartbeat, insomnia, dizziness, and upset stomach. Cognitive-Behavior Therapies are considered the best form of drug-free treatment for anxiety.*

*ADHD: Many individuals have difficulty focusing at school or at work. It is important to determine if the problems with focus are caused by ADHD or some other issue. Individuals with ADHD have life-long patterns of trouble with focus, finishing tasks, distractibility, and forgetfulness. Children with ADHD often underachieve at school. Adults with ADHD often feel they are ineffective in their careers and have difficulty managing day-to-day tasks. Treatment for ADHD often includes both counseling to learn coping skills and medication prescribed by a physician.*

Accessing Services and Scheduling Appointments

I offer flexible appointment options, both in-person and through telemedicine. To schedule a meeting, please call (425) 739-4773, or email contact@iancoxphd.com. I participate in the following insurance panels: Regence Blue Shield, Premera, and First Choice Health Network.
