Exploring Life's Journey Together

At Fatima Aydin, PhD Counseling and Psychotherapy, our mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and empowering environment where individuals, couples, and families can explore, understand, and overcome a wide range of mental health challenges. As a licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice, I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve a better understanding of themselves and their unique situations, and to empower them to take control of their mental health.

About Our Practice

My approach to therapy is integrative, drawing from a range of theoretical frameworks, including insight-oriented therapy and more holistic and alternative approaches. I am influenced by the works of Carl Rogers, Carl Jung, Abraham Maslow, Erik Erikson, Lawrence Kohlberg, and Sigmund Freud, among others. I also draw from my studies in Ayurveda, the Chakra System, and other Eastern perspectives on emotional health and well-being.

What to Expect

In our work together, I will engage with you in a collaborative and interactive process, encouraging you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a non-judgmental and supportive environment. My goal is to help you gain clarity about yourself and your values, and to support you in developing healthy and fulfilling relationships and a sense of social connectedness.

Emphasis on Self-Care

I strongly encourage my clients to cultivate healthy self-care practices, such as exercise, creative pursuits, meditation, yoga, or other activities that bring them joy and help them connect with themselves and manage stress.

Collaboration with Other Providers

I believe in collaborating with other healthcare providers to ensure that my clients receive comprehensive care. This may include working with psychiatrists, primary care physicians, alternative health practitioners, or other mental health professionals.

Spirituality and Therapeutic Approach

While I do not identify as religious, I believe that spirituality and a sense of connection to oneself and others are essential aspects of a fulfilling life. My therapeutic approach is informed by my training in psychoanalysis and my interest in humanistic and transpersonal psychology.

Working with Me

I take a collaborative and interactive approach to therapy, encouraging clients to actively participate in the therapeutic process. I believe that therapist-client fit is crucial, and I offer an initial evaluation and up to three sessions to determine whether we are a good fit. We will regularly assess our progress and adjust our goals and approach as needed.

Reviews
Negative: Reviewers have expressed dissatisfaction with the therapist's behavior, citing a lack of understanding, judgmental comments, and emotional un-safety.

Disappointing Experience

Several reviewers have expressed dissatisfaction with the therapist, citing a lack of understanding, judgmental behavior, and emotional un-safety. One reviewer, Jessica C., had a particularly negative experience, visiting the therapist for two sessions before discontinuing treatment altogether.

Unprofessional and Judgmental Behavior

According to Jessica C.'s review, the therapist made a hasty and judgmental assessment of her, repeatedly stating that it made sense what had happened to her based on how she treated others. The therapist failed to provide a supportive environment, instead making Jessica C. feel emotionally unsafe and unheard. This is a stark contrast to a therapist's usual role of providing a non-judgmental and empathetic space for clients to express themselves.

Lack of Empathy and Understanding

Jessica C. expresses her surprise that a therapist would make such negative comments, stating that she has been in therapy for many years and has never experienced such behavior. This lack of empathy and understanding is a major red flag for potential clients, as it creates a hostile and unwelcoming environment for those seeking help.

Conclusion

Reviews such as Jessica C.'s demonstrate a pattern of poor behavior from this therapist, including lack of understanding, judgmental comments, and emotional un-safety. Potential clients should be wary of such a therapist, as it may hinder their ability to form a trusting relationship and achieve successful treatment.
