Healing from the Inside Out
As you navigate the complexities of life, it's natural to feel a sense of disconnection and confusion. You're not alone. We all struggle to find our place in this world, and many of us feel like we don't fit neatly into society's expectations. At Turn the Page Counseling, I, Justin Hoo, MAED, LMHC, NCC, understand the importance of creating a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
My Approach
Life is inherently complex, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. As a licensed mental health counselor, I draw from various therapeutic modalities, including Existential Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). However, it's the therapeutic relationship that holds the most significance. I work collaboratively with each client to understand their unique experiences, relationships, culture, worldview, and intersecting identities.
Areas of Focus
I specialize in working with creatives, individuals from marginalized identities and communities, and young adults. My areas of focus include:
- Creativity and creative blocks: If you're feeling stuck or struggling to express yourself, I can help you navigate the creative process and reignite your imagination.
- Otherness and marginalization: As someone with lived experience in marginalized identities, I understand the struggle and loneliness of being the "other." I provide a safe space for you to voice your experience, discover your authentic self, and find your place in this world.
- Career therapy: Are you dissatisfied with your job or struggling to navigate a career transition? I can help you explore your values, deconstruct limiting narratives, and empower you to re-author your career.
Education and Credentials
I hold a Master of Arts in Education, Community Counseling from Seattle University (2018) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Washington (2013). I'm a licensed mental health counselor (LH61481853) and a National Certified Counselor accredited by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
