Empowering You to Take Control of Your Life

At Sarah Gideon M.A., LPC, we believe that owning our stories and embracing our vulnerabilities is the first step towards healing and growth. As a licensed professional counselor, I, Sarah Gideon, am dedicated to providing a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their struggles and overcome their challenges.

Practice Areas

My approach to therapy is client-centered, which means that I believe that you are the expert in your life, and my role is to provide guidance and support. I have extensive experience in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and commercial sexual exploitation. I am trained in several trauma-informed therapies, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).

My practice areas include:

  • Psychiatric Evaluation: I am trained in completing mental health assessments and providing mental health diagnoses using the DSM 5.
  • EMDR: I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy approach that has been shown to be effective in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related disorders.
  • Substance Abuse: I have experience treating substance abuse and substance-use related disorders in both adults and adolescents.
  • Adult Psychotherapy: I specialize in providing psychotherapy to adults with a focus on complex trauma, self-esteem, skills-building, and career and vocational guidance.
  • Adolescent Psychotherapy: I provide crisis intervention services and counseling services for adolescents, ages 12-17, focusing on issues such as PTSD, sexual and physical abuse, neglect, attachment wounding, and substance use disorders.

Accreditation and Affiliations

I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Trauma-Informed Care Consortium of Texas. I am also affiliated with the Williamson County Mental Health Task Force and the Wilco Human Trafficking Coalition.

Education and Training

I hold a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Southwestern University.
