Time To See Yourself In A Different Light!
At Maureen Michaels Psychotherapist, we believe that everyone has the potential to live a happier, healthier life. As a seasoned therapist with over 25 years of experience, I have developed a unique and dynamic approach to psychotherapy that emphasizes the understanding of human nature, belief systems, neurosis, and the dynamics of relationships.
Who Am I?
As a psychotherapist, I consider myself to be a teacher. I refer to my clients as my students because I view the process of therapy as a re-education. This student/teacher orientation is a rare one, yet it's highly effective in facilitating personal growth and change. Sessions with me are highly interactive, with a focus on active discussion and encouraging healthy skepticism. I believe that a good psychotherapist should introduce new concepts and perspectives about how to have a happier life, and I strive to do just that in my work with clients.
My Approach
My training is rooted in a unique and dynamic approach that was developed to make inroads into mental health work. It emphasizes the understanding of human nature, belief systems, neurosis, and the dynamics of relationships. Many people have hired me after finding that other psychotherapy experiences have not been effective. They find my approach practical, educational, refreshing, and life-changing. I believe that it's essential that clients understand my approach and how I will work with them before embarking on this important personal journey. That's why I offer a free consultation.
Private and Confidential
My private practice offers a confidential and personal setting. Many people comment on the warm, comfortable atmosphere of my office. I have been in practice in Beverly, Massachusetts for over 25 years. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Albany followed by extensive private psychotherapy training. I hold a 10-Year Certificate of Advanced Training.
Inspiration
As Ralph Waldo Emerson so eloquently put it, "He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done the best you could." I strive to help my clients own each day, free from the tyranny of anxiety and worry.
