"Start where you are." ~ Pema Chodron
Hello, and welcome to our practice! I'm Lind Butler, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have spent the last thirty years helping individuals, couples, and families with feelings of depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, and family problems. Our work together will be a reflective mirror to view yourself, a supportive alliance, enabling you to reflect on problem areas, gain self-understanding, enhance your self-esteem, set your own goals, and help you make needed changes leading to improved relationships.
About Our Services
Psychotherapy is a partnership which grows in an atmosphere of safety and acceptance. I nurture this collaboration with clients. Within each of us, there exists a deeper wisdom that, given adequate support, naturally moves toward healing and integration. Over my years as a therapist, I have witnessed some profoundly moving themes within the stories clients tell. Many clients come to therapy longing to be found, to be deeply seen, heard, and felt by someone who truly "gets" them. Others seek to know the aspects of their own inner life. We want to weave the bewildering, contradictory, and hidden strands of our experience into a cohesive story that makes sense. When we create a coherent narrative, we feel a deeper sense of safety in the world.
Individual Therapy
In individual counseling, clients talk about different aspects of their lives and difficulties they may be having in solving some of their problems. Therapy can provide a safe place to share your deepest thoughts and feelings without judgment. Through the use of a variety of approaches such as psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and attachment theory, I offer a warm, accepting environment for the disclosure of emotions, experiences, and secrets that may be difficult to discuss or have been held inside. Throughout our work together, we will bring awareness and light to the areas of your life where you feel stuck. Therapy can be a place to unravel your life story in order to "make sense" of it. The weaving of past stories, events, feelings, and traumas, with current emotions, patterns, stressors, and events will enable you to integrate the past with the present.
Couples Counseling
Couples counseling focuses on improving communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening the relationship. Through the use of couples therapy techniques, I can help you and your partner to deepen your connection, improve your understanding of each other, and develop new ways of relating to one another. My goal is to help you create a fulfilling and satisfying relationship by providing a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore and address your relationship issues.
Family Counseling
Family therapy is a type of counseling that involves all members of the family unit. It aims to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and enhance relationships within the family. My role as a family therapist is to facilitate open and honest communication, promote understanding and empathy, and help family members develop new patterns of interaction. By working together, we can create a stronger, more supportive family system that can better navigate life's challenges.
Grief and Bereavement Counseling
Grief and bereavement counseling is a supportive process that helps individuals and families deal with the emotional, social, and practical issues that arise following the death of a loved one. Whether you are dealing with the recent death of a family member or friend, or struggling with unresolved grief from the past, I can provide a safe and supportive space for you to express your feelings, memories, and concerns. Through the use of grief therapy techniques, I can help you navigate the grieving process and find ways to honor and remember your loved one.
Trauma Therapy
Trauma therapy is a specialized form of counseling that helps individuals who have experienced traumatic events to process and heal from their experiences. Trauma therapy techniques such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), hypnosis, and sandtray therapy can help you to safely revisit and reprocess traumatic memories, reduce symptoms of PTSD, and promote healing and integration. As a trauma therapist, I am committed to providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for you to explore and heal from your traumatic experiences.
Group Therapy
Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves a group of individuals who meet regularly to discuss and work through common issues. Group therapy can provide a supportive and healing environment where individuals can share their experiences, learn from one another, and build meaningful relationships. As a group therapist, I facilitate the group process, promote open communication, and provide guidance and support as needed.
Online Video Therapy
Online video therapy, also known as teletherapy, is a convenient and effective alternative to in-person counseling. Through the use of video conferencing technology, I can provide counseling services to individuals and couples who are unable to attend in-person sessions due to geographical limitations, mobility issues, or other constraints. Online video therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy and provides the added convenience of being able to attend sessions from the comfort of your own home.
At our practice, we are committed to providing compassionate, confidential, and evidence-based counseling services to help you navigate life's challenges and find a path to healing and growth.
