Welcome to the practice of Dr. Wyatt R. Evans, a board-certified psychologist with a wealth of experience in treating posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other forms of distress resulting from traumatic experiences. Dr. Evans is a staff psychologist and associate training director for the VA North Texas Health Care System and an assistant professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center. With a strong background in clinical and research expertise, Dr. Evans specializes in moral injury and its treatment. He has held leadership positions in various organizations, including the American Psychological Association's Divisions for Military and Trauma Psychology, the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
Services Offered
As a psychologist, Dr. Evans offers therapy services in Texas via telehealth. He provides evidence-based treatments for a variety of issues, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other forms of suffering. Dr. Evans focuses on fostering a new and healthier approach to the present and building a fulfilling and meaningful future. He works closely with his clients to alleviate pain where possible, while cultivating a new, more workable relationship with unavoidable pain. The ultimate goal is to orient clients toward their values and facilitate healing and thriving.
Moral Injury Specialization
Dr. Evans has a particular interest in moral injury, which he defines as the suffering that results from actions that violate one's deeply held moral beliefs and values. Moral injury can lead to feelings of guilt, shame, and anger, and can significantly impact a person's psychological well-being. Dr. Evans has published several peer-reviewed articles on the topic and authored The Moral Injury Workbook, an experiential workbook designed to help individuals move beyond shame, anger, and trauma to reclaim their values.
Clinical Approach
Dr. Evans utilizes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an empirically based psychological intervention that aims to increase psychological flexibility and help individuals live fuller and more meaningful lives. By learning to accept what is out of their personal control and commit to actions that improve their quality of life, individuals can foster a new and more adaptive relationship with their emotions and thoughts.
Availability and Cost
Dr. Evans currently has limited availability for new patients. Each session costs $200 and is not covered by insurance at this time. However, he is happy to provide a super bill for clients to submit to their insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Dr. Evans has published numerous articles and presented at conferences on the topic of moral injury, PTSD, and ACT. His work has been translated into multiple languages, including Dutch and Russian, and he has authored a book on moral injury.
