Services
Our depression therapy services in Chicago address experiences of persistent low mood, disconnection, and emotional heaviness. Depression may range from visible struggles to a quieter sense of going through the motions. In therapy, we work to understand the personal meaning and underlying roots of these experiences. This process supports self-awareness, compassion, and improved emotional well-being.
Our work in trauma and complex trauma therapy is centered on helping individuals reconnect with a sense of safety and self-understanding. Trauma may affect the body, emotions, and relationships, often in ways that feel confusing or overwhelming. We provide a structured flexible approach supports insight, emotional regulation, and integration of past experiences into present life.
Grief and mourning are natural human responses to loss, and we recognize that each individual experiences them differently. The process is non-linear and often fluctuates rather than follows stages. Our counseling provides a compassionate, structured space to explore loss, understand its impact, and support acceptance, meaning-making, and renewed direction in life.
We understand self-esteem concerns as rooted in early relational experiences that shape how individuals perceive their worth and identity. When emotional attunement or validation was inconsistent, adaptive patterns may develop, including perfectionism or withdrawal. In therapy, we explore these origins carefully to support a more cohesive, compassionate understanding of self.
Shame therapy at our practice focuses on uncovering the origins of shame and its ongoing influence on identity, relationships, and emotional life. We recognize shame as stemming from relational injury rather than personal failure. Our work emphasizes a steady therapeutic process that helps reduce the authority of the inner critic and supports greater psychological integration.
We offer LGBTQ+ Therapy grounded in a deep respect for personal identity and emotional complexity. Our clinicians understand how past experiences of acceptance and rejection can shape present feelings. Therapy provides a steady environment to explore inner conflicts, strengthen self-understanding, and support ongoing personal development without judgment or reduction centered on therapeutic collaboration and reflection.
Psychodynamic therapy provides a nonjudgmental space to explore inner experience without pressure to perform or present oneself in a certain way. Rather than focusing on fixing symptoms, we work to understand underlying emotional and relational patterns. This process can increase self-awareness, emotional capacity, and a more grounded sense of authenticity in life over time, genuinely
Many relationship challenges are shaped by early developmental experiences and attachment patterns formed in childhood. We help individuals explore how these origins influence current relational dynamics, including expectations of closeness, trust, and emotional expression. Attention is also given to the relationship with oneself, as self-understanding plays a central role in relating to others overall process
Our practice provides anxiety therapy that addresses both the surface symptoms and the underlying causes of distress. We help you explore the fears, patterns, and experiences contributing to your anxiety while fostering greater awareness and understanding. Through this process, you can begin to interpret your emotional responses differently, improve your sense of stability, and engage in life with increased confidence and clarity.

My colleague Santiago Delboy has built a psychotherapy practice unlike many others. The focus is to promote a humanistic model of treatment, namely a psychodynamic approach, which centers the whole person rather than a set of symptoms. With determination and compassion, Santiago and his associates aim to treat and honor the suffering of the individuals served at Fermata. In addition, the team is engaged in an ongoing learning and development process that should serve as inspiration for other like group practices to do the same!
