At Transformation Counseling, Inc., our mission is to provide a secure, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a collaborative and goal-oriented manner. Our experienced and licensed therapist, Dr. L. Melissa Carlisle Golden, is dedicated to helping clients of all ages and backgrounds navigate life's challenges and achieve their personal goals.

Our Philosophy

As a Christian-based organization, we believe that counseling is a meaningful, relational, time-bound, and goal-oriented process. Our philosophy is centered around the idea that the counselor is merely a vessel in the healing and transformation process, not the savior. We recognize that ultimate healing and transformation are not yet attainable in this world, but we believe that there is hope and healing available through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our Services

At Transformation Counseling, Inc., we offer a wide range of services to support individuals, couples, and families in their journey towards healing and transformation. Our services include individual, couple, and family therapy sessions, as well as specialized services such as play therapy and trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy. We work with clients of all ages, from children over the age of 15 to adults, and address a variety of issues, including spirituality, stress management, self-esteem, identity, loss and grief, depression, anxiety, trauma and abuse, marital issues, parenting issues, relational issues, codependency, and psychological disorders.

Our Expertise

Dr. Golden has extensive training in several modalities, including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, emotion-focused therapy, the Gottman marriage institute, and trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy. She works primarily from a family systems perspective, utilizing evidence-based therapies to support her clients in achieving their personal goals.

Our Credentials

Dr. Golden holds a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling, a Master of Theology, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors and holds a professional counseling license with the state of Alabama.
