I am Charlene Chow, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) registered to practice in the states of Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina, and Florida. I have a M.A. in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from the Boston University School of Medicine, as well as a M.P.H. with a concentration in Health Management from Drexel University. My practice is informed by a strong pre-medical background, a belief in the holistic mind-body connection and power of creativity, and more than a decade of clinical exposure in both medical and psychiatric settings.
Who am I?
I am a licensed mental health counselor who is dedicated to collaborating with adults of all ages, regardless of racial or cultural identity, gender, sexual orientation, or other spiritual beliefs or life experience. I believe that everyone needs help sometimes, and everyone deserves help and understanding always. My approach is cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive.
Who do I Serve?
I work primarily with individuals but also have experience with groups, couples, crisis intervention, and addictions. Adults of all ages are welcome. I am passionate about collaborating with adults looking for support with mood or anxiety symptoms, health conditions, relationships, and various cultural or life adjustments. In my opinion, no challenge is too great for us to cope with as a team, whether you're looking for help setting boundaries and saying "no, " communicating more effectively, resolving conflicts with loved ones, navigating intersectionality, attaining your goals, accepting or overcoming life's various curve balls - mental, emotional, and physical.
Services
I offer both in-office and teletherapy sessions. One-on-one office sessions are offered in 45-minute increments to ensure a personal, goal-focused therapeutic experience. In-home sessions are an option as well for homebound individuals aged 65+. Extended sessions for both office or home-based visits may be arranged in advance on a case-by-case basis.
Teletherapy sessions by phone are offered in 45-minute increments if you are a designated teletherapy client, or in 20-minute increments if you are seeking a one-off check-in due to temporary barriers to an office visit. Extended teletherapy sessions may also be arranged in advance on a case-by-case basis.
One-on-one teletherapy sessions by video are offered in 45-minute increments if you are a designated teletherapy client, or in 20-minute increments if you are seeking a one-off check-in due to temporary barriers to an office visit. Extended teletherapy sessions may also be arranged in advance on a case-by-case basis.
Please note that you must be physically located in one of the states in which I am licensed/registered to practice - Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina, or Florida - at the time of your session in order to participate in teletherapy services of either variety (phone or video). You must also be able to attend your first appointment by video in order for me to verify your identity.
