Our services are designed to cater to a diverse range of needs, from brief therapy to longer-term relational psychotherapy. As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I, Alyson M. Giardini, bring a unique blend of expertise, including a background in women's self-defense, cultural outsider experiences, and a strong emphasis on social justice and feminist psychology.

Services Offered

Our practice specializes in various therapeutic approaches, including individual and couples therapy, play therapy for children, and family therapy. We draw from object relations, family systems, and psychodynamic theory, incorporating techniques from Somatic and Body Centered Psychotherapy and Narrative traditions. Our humanist client-centered approach ensures a personalized and compassionate experience for each client. We proudly serve the Yuba Foothills Community, including Oregon House, Dobbins, Brownsville, and surrounding areas.

Expertise

I have a particular interest in working with women and members of the gender and sexual diversity (GSD) community, as well as those who have experienced violence, harassment, or abuse. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with cultural outsiders or those who have moved frequently in their lives, including Global Nomads or Third Culture Kids. My background in anthropology and counseling psychology enables me to understand the complexities of cross-cultural adaptation and identity formation.

Education and Training

I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from New College of California, with an emphasis on Feminist Psychology and Social Justice. My MA in Anthropology from Stanford University focused on cross-cultural adaptation and identity formation. This multidisciplinary education allows me to approach therapy from a comprehensive and culturally sensitive perspective.
